The city of Masdar near Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirate wl be the first city to produce its energy entirely by way of renewable energy such as solar and wind energy.
They wil also recycle all their waste and as such, have a “zero carbon” footprint.
Of course, it is great to be located in a sun drenched part of the world.
There is a short video on the city’s website which shows theprojected city plan.Or at least, one important section of the city.

Global warming could lead to a climate catastrophe closer than we think.
Last March, in Copenhagen, at a climate conference, a group of scientists presented more than 1,400 studies related to climate change and its impact on the planet.
Last month, a 39 page summary entitled “Climate Change – Synthesis report” was released, explaining the impact of global warming. Details about this excellent report can be found on Google news.
This scientific meeting was a rehearsal for the upcoming December United Nations meeting, also to be held in Copenhagen to hammer out a successor to the Kyoto Protocol which expires in 2012.
Global warming will impact us all, so I encourage you to at least read the article about climate change on Google from Agence France Presse.
The Synthesis report is also a very interesting read.
